A water borne, eco-friendly, dual acting rust treatment which stabilises adherent rust and primes rusted iron and steel structures in one safe and simple operation without the need for blast cleaning or other expensive surface preparation.

Proven track record. Used extensively in the oil, gas and marine industries from the UK North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico and the South China Seas, Navy Steel has been protecting steel structures on and offshore for more than twenty five years, saving costs by providing a low cost alternative to full blast cleaning in maintenance painting specifications.
Safe to use. Water borne, ultra low VOC. Easily applied without safety equipment.. Non flammable. Tested to pass Class "O" classification.

Saves preparation costs. Used in maintenance paint specifications to avoid expensive blast cleaning operations. Saves labour, materials and maintenance costs.

Navy Steel is so called because when it is applied to rusted steel a chemical change occurs in the adherent treated rust turning it a blue black colour as shown in the photograph above (please click on the image above to see more detail), and providing a primer film ready for undercoating and topcoating.

Navy Steel applications include:
  • Offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities
  • Ferries, supply boats and ESVs repair
  • Heavy engineering
  • Maintenance of steel factory roofs
  • Process plant and hazard areas
  • Motor vehicles
  • DIY maintenance
  • Yachting and leisure craft
  • And many other practical applications
Field testing on a floating dock in Bangkok against three well known competitor products showed that only Navy Steel passed the test of repeated immersion in salt water. Area 1 shows Navy Steel applied in one coat and two coats unaffected by immersion while areas 2, 3 (off the edge of the picture) and 4 all showed failure.
